A LEARNING HANDBOOK FOR JŌYŌ KANJI

The method approaches the Japanese writing system through

etymological studies and a unique arrangement of Japanese Kanji, organized by thematic categories and graphic components, which allows the best memorization by identifying and studying Kanji derived from the same root at the same time.

Each Kanji is etymologically explained, improving understatement of their abstract forms and current meanings, illustrated within the Kanji's description itself.

Kun and On readings are directly reported on top of keywords provided with English translation, which reveal each Kanji's potential use.

After a meticulous introduction of basic graphic components (radicals), readers are free to deal with the handbook as preferred: i.e. following the proposed thematic order; studying Kanji by scholastic grade (resuming upper grades Kanji in subsequent readings); or using the handbook to meet present needs by looking up specific Kanji like a dictionary.
